A Touch of Rain

It had been raining or drizzling for a while and as I walked by these flowers, their intensity & beauty struck me! Rain or water helps that. For years, I have carried in my camera bag a small spray bottle to liven up my flower photos. This day, I didn’t need to do that, nature did it for me! Thank you! ☺️

After a bit of a walk we arrived at Harrods, a very upscale department store with everything you can imagine! That’s it in the photo, straight ahead and on the right!

I LOVE this photo because it has a DOUBLE DECKER BUS; HARRODS DEPARTMENT STORE; A BIKE; A BRITISH FLAG & A RED TELEPHONE BOX in it, can you find them??

After a Great Walk

I had a WONDERFUL walk thru forests and glens and then I thought I would RELAX, yes, right by a monument to Queen Victoria in Esher!  By-the-way, as you can see by my flip-flops, it was a beautiful day in England!

After an awesome concert at Royal Albert Hall, we walked over to Harrods, a huge department store. At one point, I thought it was time to RELAX, so I put my feet up and ENJOYED London, England!

Royal Albert Hall

Kensington, London, England

We had a wonderful time with Joseph and Rosie’s family at the Royal Albert Hall in London, where we listened to the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra play movie themes; ‘FILM MUSIC GALA’. They played 26 songs, here’s some of them; Mission Impossible, ET, Harry Potter, Indiana Jones, Chariots of Fire, Frozen, Star Wars & Rocky. It was awesome! Something Joseph and Rosie didn’t know is that I have always had a desire to go inside the Royal Albert Hall. It was completed in 1871 and was named after Prince Albert who died in 1861, he was the husband of Queen Victoria. Thirty seven years after the death of Prince Albert, (1898) my grandfather, Albert Edward Ottley was born in London, England, and from what I remember, my grandfather was named after Prince Albert. So, this was a special moment for me!

As we walked thru the streets of London, we saw many red telephone booths. I don’t know if they still work or not, but with the use of cell phones, phone booths seem to be disappearing. However, the British Red Telephone Box stands as an icon to Britain and it’s history!

Driving On The Left!

Because I come from New Zealand, driving on the left side of the road has never been a worry! However, this time, driving a car with the driver on the left, makes things a little scarier, worrisome & concerning! So far so good!!

On a bus tour of the British Isles that we went on in 2004, we walked thru the University of Cambridge, which was founded in 1209.  It is a beautiful campus and I found a lot of bikes to photograph!

I have always ENJOYED taking photos of bikes and this trip to England in 2004 was no exception. Brighton is a fun, quaint town right on the English Channel. This was a fun shot with the Brighton Pier in the background.

Alnwick Castle

Alnwick Castle was transformed into Hogwarts in ‘Harry Potter’. On our bus tour of the British Isles in 2004 we went to Alnwick Castle. It was so fun to be there and feel the Hogwarts spirit.

Brig O’Doon

We took a bus tour of the British Isles from July-August of 2003.  It was wonderful!  We drove thru Scotland and saw some beautiful places, including this bridge where the movie Brigadoon got it’s idea for the bridge scene.  Brigadoon was going to be filmed in Scotland, but because the weather is so unpredictable they shot it in the US in a film studio.
