We saw beautiful wild flowers everywhere on our trip out east. Black-eyed Susan or Rudbeckia hurt are members of the Sunflower family and gorgeous!

Sunflowers

Harvest time is close with these Sunflowers full of sunflower seeds.  I love the color and look of sunflowers!  Did you know that Sunflowers follow the sun?  Their petals are designed to absorb as much sun as possible and they swivel to reach the best sunlight.  In Italy they are called Girasole which literally means turn the sun, meaning they turn and follow the sun.  FUN!!

Bumble Bee & Flowers

While visiting the Benjamin Franklin Museum, we went outside where they have a structure that shows where Benjamin’s house once stood. There in the area that would have been the courtyard are some beautiful flowers. As I was taking photos of them, a Bumble Bee came by and enjoyed the different and very colorful flowers.

Honolulu, Hawaii

We went for a ride up to the Punchbowl or the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific. It is so peaceful there, reverence to all those who gave their lives for our freedom!

There I saw these flowers, Bird of Paradise, which were one of my mom’s favorite flowers. They are so unique and their colors are gorgeous!

Amongst The Petals

As I went for my morning walk I noticed a bunch of flower petals on the ground. There wasn’t a tree nearby with these flowers on it, so I suspect there had been a wedding here, recently! What a perfect place to sit and RELAX!

Bridge to the Peninsula

Niederkassel, Germany

Here is the walking bridge that takes you over to the peninsula where we walked thru the forest to the River Rhine.  Though this water is apart of the Rhine, the big part of the river, that has river boats on it, is on the other side.  We passed beautiful flowers, swans, other people & had a wonderful time walking thru the forest and along the Rhine!

The Home of Robert Schuman

The home of Robert Schuman is very modest and shows what a humble man he was!  Thanks to Marlies & Helmut Werner for bringing us here!  This photo was taken from his garden showing the back of his house with the steeple of the church he visited daily which is across the street from his home.

Dragon Fly

Something else that are really hard to get photos of are Dragon Flies.  They, like Bumble Bees, move a lot, but they at least stop at some point.  This one was in Robert Schuman’s garden.  He’s a pretty golden color!

Do you know how hard it is to get a photo of a Bumble Bee, it is really, really hard because they don’t stop moving.  I took a lot of photos with blurred bees before I got this one in Robert Schuman’s garden.  I love the color of Lavender!

Here are some beautiful Black-Eyed Susan Vines (Thunbergia Alata) that were also in Robert Schuman’s garden.  I have always loved the color yellow and these flowers with the black center are stunning!

Robert Schuman’s Gardens

Scy-Chazelles, France

Robert Schuman was an amazing man, born in Luxembourg, he grew up to be called the ‘Father of Europe’. He spent most week-ends at his home and the last few years of his life there, during which time he attended church daily. His garden is beautiful and peaceful, so I took advantage and put my feet up and RELAXED. In this photo you can see his house thru the trees to the right and the church he attended to the left.

The garden’s at Robert Schuman’s house are beautiful as you will see by other  photos that I will post.  They are well manicured and kept up so well!  This photo was taken from inside his yard, so this is what people would see as they left his home.

We were very happy that our friends, Marlies and Helmut Werner, took us out to learn about this humble and extraordinary man!
