Wait

Poipu, Kauai, Hawai’i

There are different stages of a sunset, so I take some photos, then wait, take more photos and wait, take more photos, wait and in the end I have many beautiful sunset photos.  Patience is important when it comes to nature photography.

Looking at Me

Poipu, Kauai, Hawaii

It was so fun watching these two Monk Seals play together.  As they rolled into the ocean, one looked at me, so cute!

Thru the Trees

Poipu, Kauai, Hawai’i

I like to take photographs of sunsets thru the trees or generally with something else in the photo.  Silhouettes with the colors of the sunset coming thru are beautiful!

Gorgeous

Poipu, Kauai, Hawaii

I LOVE SUNSETS!  This was gorgeous as the sun set over the Pacific Ocean.

Two Playing

Poipu, Kauai, Hawaii

There was a Monk Seal asleep on the beach, (the one on the right) and pretty soon another one came out of the ocean, (the one on the left) and he tried hard to wake the other one and play with him. He kept touching him, pushing him & poking him. Finally, the one on the right woke-up and the one on the left went off to sleep or at least he pretended to be asleep. It was fun to watch them interact!

Palm Trees

Lihue, Hawaii

I love watching palm trees as they wave in the soft ocean breeze!  I saw these on my walk this morning.

Rock Covered With Seaweed

Poipu Beach, Kauai, Hawaii

As I went for my morning walk I noticed some rocks that were covered with seaweed.  The waves were coming and going as they moved the seaweed.  This photo is deceiving because the rocks are about 2-4 inches high.  There is an island, just out from Poipu Beach and you can see it in the distance.  It is very small, sometimes there are Monk Seals on it or at other times people are out on it.  I have been out to it many times, but the ocean was too rough today to go out.

Waterlily by the Pool

Poipu, Kauai, Hawaii

There were beautiful flowers around the pool and because I had a broken rib, I wasn’t able to really swim, so I did what I love to do, I took photos!

Waipoo Falls

Waimea Canyon, Kauai, Hawaii

Waipoo Waterfall was just as majestic as ever!  Flowing thru a canyon that is referred to as the Grand Canyon of the Pacific, Waipoo Falls thrills all who see it!

Waimea Canyon

Waimea, Kauai, Hawaii

I was so surprised when I found out that one of my cousin’s was on Oahu, (she lives in New Zealand so I don’t get to see her very often) and even more surprised when she and her husband came to Kauai for a day.  We took them everywhere we could in a day.  At the top of Waimea Canyon you never know what the view will be like.  Most of the time we just look out at clouds.  This day, for them, the clouds were minimal and allowed us to look down at the ocean and see the beautiful Nã Pali Coast from above.  It was awesome!

Rainy Nã Pali Coast

Haena Beach, Kauai, Hawaii

It was drizzly as we got out to Haena Beach which is on the north shore of Kauai.  As you walk out on the beach and look back you can see the Nã Pali Coast, it is pretty even with rain!

Waterfalls

Hanalei, Kauai, Hawaii

Each time we drive to Haena we drive thru the beautiful town of Hanalei. There is a lovely beach there and breath taking mountains with gorgeous waterfalls, particularly after rain. This day there were many waterfalls, because of all the rain we have had. Someone said, ‘it looks like the waterfall is coming out of the sky’. There are three waterfalls in this photo, can you see them?

Wai’oli Hui’ia Church

Hanalei, Kauai, Hawaii

Each time we drive to Haena we drive thru the quaint town of Hanalei. There we see waterfalls on the mountains and gorgeous beaches.  There is a beautiful church there that we pass each time and I have for years wanted to stop and take a photo of it.  But, it seems we are always rushing to get back to PiuPu before it gets too dark. This day was the same, so I took this photo from the car.  Waiʻoli Huiʻia Church was built in 1912 by the descendants of the first missionaries to Kauaʻi, Abner and Lucy Wilcox, who arrived in 1836 from Boston, Massachusetts.

Hawaiian Green Turtle

Poipu, Kauai, Hawaii

Lots of people were out walking along the beach.  They were being very careful to stay away from the turtle sleeping on the beach.

Raining

Koloa, Kauai, Hawaii

Well, when it rains in Hawaii, it really rains!  We could hardly see out the windshield as we drove along.  The wipers helped for a second, HA! HA!  The wettest spot on earth is in the middle of Kauai, thus all the rain.  The nice thing is that it isn’t a cold rain but a warm one!

Flower and Reflection

Poipu, Kauai, Hawaii

As I was walking along I saw this flower that had fallen to the ground.  I thought it looked cool with the reflection in the water.  So, I put my GoPro down and took this photo.

Swaying in the Wind

Poipu, Kauai, Hawaii

I enjoy watching Palm Trees as they sway in the wind, they are so tall and regal!

The Beach

Poipu, Hawaii

I love walking along the beach and seeing all the people, umbrellas, and fun things along the way!

Glorious View

Lihue, Hawaii

Can you imagine walking along this path each morning, it is such a glorious view!
