{"id":3995,"date":"2017-08-19T14:57:51","date_gmt":"2017-08-19T20:57:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thrumyeyes.com\/?p=3995"},"modified":"2018-07-25T07:47:02","modified_gmt":"2018-07-25T13:47:02","slug":"voladores-de-papantla-flyers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thrumyeyes.com\/index.php\/2017\/08\/19\/voladores-de-papantla-flyers\/","title":{"rendered":"Voladores de Papantla Flyers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3996\" src=\"https:\/\/thrumyeyes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/IMG_1761a-e1504212984504.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_1761a\" width=\"640\" height=\"960\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Xcaret, Mexico<\/p>\n<p>We watched this very ancient ceremonial ritual. \u00a0It is believed it began about 450 years ago when there was a severe drought in the land and the ritual was created to appease the Gods and apparently it worked. \u00a0The ritual consists of dancers climbing a 30 meter (98 1\/2 foot) pole from which four of the five participants then launch themselves tied with ropes to descend to the ground.
