Union Jack

The Union Jack or Union Flag of the United Kingdom flies over Hampton Court Palace.  I love to take photos of flags, it’s always my challenge to get the perfect shot as they wave in the wind.  This time, with all the chimney’s, which there are many, it turned out nice!

Hampton Court

Chelsea and I were off today to Hampton Court, a royal palace in the London Borough of Richmond Upon Thames.  King Henry VIII lived here at one time.  When King William III lived here it took on a massive rebuilding and expansion project and was intended to rival Versailles.  Sir Christopher Wren’s architectural work was so expensive that only half of it was completed.  (I had to throw in Sir Christopher Wren because he is one of my ancestors, my 5th great grandfather I believe.)  It hasn’t been inhabited by royalty since the 18th century.

Lots of Pigeons

There are a ton of pigeons in England and they are fearless, so you have to watch out for them. Right after taking this photo one whizzed by my face! I thought of my friend Vicki Tuua, when I saw this sign! Is your deck any better?

While eating lunch with my friend Ilaria Silli, I noticed people crossing the bridge and looking down, see the lady on the bridge, looking down, what do you think she’s looking at? Tomorrow I’ll show you, here’s a hint; there is one in this photo! Any guesses?

After a great lunch with a dear friend, Ilaria Silli, we walked around Kingston Upon Thames.  It is a beautiful city with the River Thames going thru it.  Here I decided to take a rest and put my feet up!  Off to the right is Bentalls, a huge department store, it’s actually more of a mall and a big one at that!  I love all the red buses coming my way!

Nesting Swan

IMG_1418Kingston Upon Thames, England

While Chelsea McKenzie Pacini and I were having lunch with Ilaria Silli, (a great friend from Italy) I noticed people walking across a bridge and then they would stop and look down. So, after lunch we walked over there to see what they were looking at and this is it, a Swan sitting on her nest! I am assuming this is a female because generally the female sits on her nest for up to 6 weeks, the male however, can if necessary. I love swans, they are beautiful and so graceful in the water. Also, they mate for life which I think is really cool! They are beautiful!  CONGRATULATIONS go to Donald Donald E. Russell & Raewyn Lyes Viljoen for guessing correctly, at least the Swan, the nest is an added bonus!  Donald & Raewyn, send me your mailing address in a private message (Facebook) and I will send you your gift for guessing correctly!!

Private Lake

What a great walk and I found this pretty lake! It said: PRIVATE LAKE, NO SWIMMING, NO FISHING, but it didn’t say NO RELAXING, so I put my feet up, RELAXED & ENJOYED it!

A Rather Rainy, Drippy Day

I went on a wonderful walk, though it rained most of the way. Towards the end, the rain was really coming down, as you can see it dripping off of my umbrella! Surprisingly there were people playing golf on the golf course. I suppose rain or shine, go for it!

RELAXING AT KING’S CROSS STATION BEFORE HEADING OUT ON THE HOGWARTS EXPRESS

We had a wonderful tour of The Making of Harry Potter. It is the actual set where for 10 years the Harry Potter movies were made. It’s also a museum full of props, models, designs and costumes from the movies! About half way thru I was getting a bit tired so I decided to take a seat and relax before heading off on the Hogwarts Express!

A Touch of Rain

It had been raining or drizzling for a while and as I walked by these flowers, their intensity & beauty struck me! Rain or water helps that. For years, I have carried in my camera bag a small spray bottle to liven up my flower photos. This day, I didn’t need to do that, nature did it for me! Thank you! ☺️

Walking To Harrods

After a bit of a walk we arrived at Harrods, a very upscale department store with everything you can imagine! That’s it in the photo, straight ahead and on the right!

I ❤️❣LOVE ❤️❣this photo because it has a DOUBLE DECKER BUS; HARRODS DEPARTMENT STORE; A BIKE; A BRITISH FLAG & A RED TELEPHONE BOX in it, can you find them??

After a Great Walk

I had a WONDERFUL walk thru forests and glens and then I thought I would RELAX, yes, right by a monument to Queen Victoria in Esher!  By-the-way, as you can see by my flip-flops, it was a beautiful day in England!

Enjoying London

After an awesome concert at Royal Albert Hall, we walked over to Harrods, a huge department store. At one point, I thought it was time to RELAX, so I put my feet up and ENJOYED London, England!

Royal Albert Hall

RoyalAlbertHallKensington, London, England

We had a wonderful time with Joseph and Rosie’s family at the Royal Albert Hall in London, where we listened to the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra play movie themes; ‘FILM MUSIC GALA’. They played 26 songs, here’s some of them; Mission Impossible, ET, Harry Potter, Indiana Jones, Chariots of Fire, Frozen, Star Wars & Rocky. It was awesome! Something Joseph and Rosie didn’t know is that I have always had a desire to go inside the Royal Albert Hall. It was completed in 1871 and was named after Prince Albert who died in 1861, he was the husband of Queen Victoria. Thirty seven years after the death of Prince Albert, (1898) my grandfather, Albert Edward Ottley was born in London, England, and from what I remember, my grandfather was named after Prince Albert. So, this was a special moment for me!

Red Telephone Box

As we walked thru the streets of London, we saw many red telephone booths. I don’t know if they still work or not, but with the use of cell phones, phone booths seem to be disappearing. However, the British Red Telephone Box stands as an icon to Britain and it’s history!

Swan on the River Thames

Driving On The Left!

DrivingOnTheLeftMaidstone, England – 2016 – iPhone

Because I come from New Zealand, driving on the left side of the road has never been a worry! However, this time, driving a car with the driver on the left, makes things a little scarier, worrisome & concerning! 😀 So far so good!!
